I've always been reluctant to blog

I've always been reluctant to blog. Yes, I have Facebook and I tweet occassionally. My company, Travel News & Deals has a beautiful web site at www.travelnewsanddeals.com. (selfless plug.) But blogging always seemed boring to me.

That was until I realized that blogging allows me to tell my fans more about my travels. I have a big mouth so 140 characters are never enough for me. Facebook lets me post photos and links but a blog will let me really bore people to death. I will be able to just write and write and write. I sometimes wish I could see their eyes rolling like they do when I talk and talk and talk. Anyway, welcome to my blog. I am a travel journalist and I will be traveling the world and telling you about all the places I see that are on my bucket list.

You may wonder, why does he have a bucket list? Is he sick. Is he dying? I'm not dying. Well, I am. We all are but someone I love once told me I live a very idealic life. I tear up when I see beautiful things. I did just that when I saw the Fjords in Norway in the Summer or 2011. I teared up when I saw the Great Wall and when I sailed into New York Harbor on the QE2, just like my family must have done years ago. I'm sensative, or maybe I have allergies, and according to most girls, sensativity is a good quality.

Here's a little bit about Joel Connable. I spent 13 years working as a television news anchor and reporter. "Stay classy San Diego." I actually never worked there but I was a reporter in Los Angeles, South Carolina and an anchor in Miami. I've won a few Emmy Awards for my reporting and I was honored to be named the "Best News Anchor" in Miami by the Free Times in 2009. Before I was a reporter I spent four years working as a paramedic with the Nassau County Police Department in New York. I spent a total of 8 years licensed as a Nationally Registered paramedic and they were some of my favorite years in my life. Before all of that I flew airplanes when I was training to become a private pilot. I am also a juvenile diabetic. I have had Type 1 diabetes since I was 13 years old. I have an insulin pump which allows me to travel more freely and not worry about taking shots and time zone changes. I also have the greatest little dog in the world. Her name is Lola and she is trained to alert me if my sugar drops too low. You will meet her if you follow my travels. As for my family, my brother was a Marine for more than 20 years. He is a Middle East expert with the Rand Corporation and he speaks Arabic fluenty. My parents have been married for 50 years. (50 years as of 2012.) They are both authors and I guess that's why I am writing right now.

My parents always emphasized to me, if I learn to write and communicate well, I can do anything. I guess they were right because, after all those years of reporting, anchoring, paramedic"ing"...Sorry mom and dad, is that a word?  After all those years of flying and running after all the exhilerating things most kids never dream of, I am now sitting at my computer in a quiet room, blogging.  Stay tuned to my blog because I will tell you about some great trips I take. Make sure you become our Facebook fan. Just search "Travel TV News," and "like" us. Remember, I am a journalist, so you have to believe everything I tell you. Welcome to my blog. Joel Connable
